NEWS

Our mission is to prevent conflict in order to save lives, eliminate suffering,
and ultimately attain peace and development in Africa.

Africa Center for Peace and Democracy, founded in 1982, works to bring about peace, democracy, and good governance in Central, East, and Southern Africa.  We focus on those areas where there is potential for violent conflict.  Our approach is to learn about the conflicting interests in an area and work with the involved parties to come to a non-violent solution.  ACPD does not take sides but instead provides a neutral ground for mediation for all stakeholders in the conflict.  When peace is achieved and maintained, children can become educated, infrastructure can be developed, and individuals can enjoy their basic human rights.

We use preventive diplomacy in our work to prevent conflicts from occuring in Central, East, and Southern Africa.
