Africa Center for Peace and
Democracy, founded in 1982, works to bring about peace, democracy,
and good governance in Central, East, and Southern
Africa. We focus on those areas where there is potential
for violent conflict. Our approach is to learn about the
conflicting interests in an area and work with the involved parties
to come to a non-violent solution. ACPD does not take sides
but instead provides a neutral ground for mediation for all
stakeholders in the conflict. When peace is achieved and
maintained, children can become educated, infrastructure can be
developed, and individuals can enjoy their basic human
rights.
PRESS RELEASE MAY 14,
2009
Headlines from Africa are
forcing us to think more and more about what isn't being done
with many crises on that continent. However, one man, like Rev.
Gabriel Odima has underscored the importance of U.S. foreign
policy in Africa through his new book: The Missing Link of U.S.
Foreign Policy in Africa "Coming to terms with reality".
The book offers a clear-eyed
and neutral view historically and currently from Rev. Odima's
unique background in understanding the political thinking of
both the U.S. and Afrian policy makers. Through his rich
experience in African politics and foreign relations, his book
enables readers to come to terms with African reality. We
encourage anyone concerned about the crises in Africa and
terrorist threats to our nation and the world, to read this
book.
